Depression Remedies

Depression can have many causes and the symptoms can also be numerous. Depression can also lead to other ailments such as headaches, insomnia and loss of appetite. Deep, continuos bouts of depression should be treated with professional advice, especially if their are no obvious reasons for its cause. Many essential oils can have quite an effect on mood and can therefore be excellent at treating mild depression. The oil you use may also need changing as the symptoms vary.

Directions:
Massage using diluted essential oils can be the most effective method, as the physical contact combined with the essential oil can give the most relaxing benefit. Any of the following oils can be used, Bergamot Oil is uplifting with a refreshing citrus fragrance. Clary Sage Oil is relaxing with an uplifting effect and useful when tension has been the main cause of depression, Geranium can also be used this has a tonic effect on the adrenal cortex which regulates stress hormone production. These oils should be mixed with a base oil such as Grapeseed or Sunflower at a rate of 1 per cent - i.e. 20 drops of essential oil to 100ml (4 fl oz) of base oil.
